Understanding your responsibilities regarding the findings on home and termite inspection reports can save you thousands of dollars. Making repair decisions before you place your home on the market allows much more flexibility than what is possible after a buyer is involved.
Above all else….do not allow your home to be inspected by anyone that offers to repair the damage or treat the infestation found. Inspectors that perform corrective work on the homes they inspect are frequently paid on commission or profit sharing based upon the amount of corrective work they can sell. It's false economy to select an inspection company based upon their inspection fee only. Often times a "FREE" or "Low Priced" inspection is far more expensive than a fairly priced inspection from an unbiased inspection firm. Even though NBI does not perform corrective work or chemical treatments, we are very knowledgeable of local repair prices. As an added customer service, we do provide you with "Cost Approximations" for all the corrective work recommended in our termite reports. In this way, you can determine if contractor bids are fair. We also provide you with a list of qualified contractors in your area that can perform all termite repairs. Use your contractor or use one of the contractors listed in NBI's reports.
